DVIDS – News – DHA and 30 Military Hospitals and Clinics Worldwide Recognized for Facility Efficiency Initiatives

The Defense Health Agency and 30 military hospitals and clinics were recently recognized by Practice Greenhealth, a leading voice in sustainable health care, for their commitment to environmental stewardship and efficiency.

According to Ambrose C. Rosario Jr., who leads DHA’s healthcare facilities efficiency, environmental compliance, and audit program, the recognition signifies “a profound and impactful commitment to a resilient future,” showcasing dedication to efficient and environmentally responsible healthcare practices across the agency.

Practice Greenhealth’s 2025 Environmental Excellence awards acknowledge healthcare facilities and systems for achievements in environmental efficiency. DHA partners with the organization to benchmark military facilities against civilian counterparts in key sustainability metrics. Practice Greenhealth represents healthcare systems committed to integrating sustainability to protect patients, staff, communities, and the environment.

The achievements stem from an enterprise-wide team effort focused on meeting top-tier sustainability goals and environmental compliance targets.

“These remarkable achievements would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the DHA headquarters healthcare facilities efficiency program team collaborating with their teammates at our facilities,” said Robert L. Goodman, DHA assistant director for resources and personnel integration. “This collective success recognizes how DHA prioritizes environmental sustainability while delivering safe, reliable health care to our beneficiaries. Congratulations to all the facilities recognized this year.”

From domestic installations to overseas facilities in Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom, military hospitals and clinics are implementing comprehensive sustainability programs that reduce environmental impact while sustaining mission readiness and exceptional patient care.

DHA honorees were recognized with three 2025 Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence awards: Greenhealth System for Change Award, the Greenhealth Emerald Award, and the Greenhealth Partner for Change Award.
